With our 2017 consultation events now under way we are pleased to announce details of more of the venues for this year's events. Whatever your role in the sport we want you to come along, tell us what you think and discuss the issues facing the sport as we shape our future work. Thank you to all those who have already contributed or told us they plan to attend. Please make sure your voice is heard.

Making life easier when deploying officials for events Making life easier when deploying officials for events

England Athletics really want to improve the experience of officials and make life easier for people who deploy officials to competitions and events. One thing that could help is making it easier for people to find out what competitions there are, make themselves available, and be selected, withdraw or even replace someone else.  We are currently looking at which system to test and we need your help!

The first of three workshops set up to support steeplechasers was enjoyed by 41 athletes and coaches at Birmingham University’s new track.  Two more free sessions are scheduled in Preston and Manchester.

Hosting a Volunteer or Official’s Taster Session at your club could be a great way of encouraging more people to volunteer as well as raising awareness of how people in the community can get involved in volunteering opportunities within your club. And we have a great variety of free resources to help make your event a success.

Gordon Surtees: 1932-2017 Gordon Surtees: 1932-2017

England Athletics are sad to learn of the passing of Gordon Surtees. As well as having served as national marathon and steeplechase coach he was a highly respected long distance, marathon and middle distance endurance coach for over 50 years. Through this period he worked with many club and elite level athletes. Gordon was also involved in the management of international teams and was a strong supporter and stalwart of the sport.
