London Marathon is an England Athletics business partner
London Marathon provide investment into the England Athletics talent hub programme – which makes a huge difference to the sport and supports our aim of providing a clear pathway for the most talented young athletes to progress towards senior success.
London Marathon also provide free London Marathon event places on an annual basis to be accessed by registered athletes in England Athletics affiliated Athletics and Running clubs. They also financially support the England Athletics led new road race licensing scheme.
At a grassroots level, London Marathon are involved in promoting the sport to our youngest participants through investment in initiatives such as the Daily Mile and Mini Marathon and also work closely with England Athletics to support the promotion of athletics to schools across England, including English Schools and our funetics programme.
They also support the sport in a number of ways through their Charitable Foundation; after costs, 100 per cent of the annual surplus of the TCS London Marathon (and all other events organised by London Marathon Events) is gifted to the London Marathon Foundation, which then awards grants to athletics and recreational projects in London and across the UK and they have supported a number of track and field facility projects in the capital and further afield.
England Athletics and London Marathon also collaborate with other race organisers to lead the cross parliamentary group for running and to campaign for the important role that athletics and running can play in impacting the mental and physical health of the nation and play a vitally important role in leading the thinking around the sport and its strategy.
