The Helmsley Easter Sunday Multi-Terrain 10K has become one of North Yorkshire’s most anticipated spring races, attracting club runners, first-timers and visitors from across the country. Licenced through RunEvents, the home for all licensed road and multi terrain events in England, the event is a standout example of how high standards, strong community engagement and the right support can help a local race thrive.

A win for England at inaugural Home Countries International trail race

Keswick was the perfect location for the inaugural Home Countries International trail race on 11 April, which was also incorporating the UKA European-Off Road Running Championships trail selection race, as well as being the British Middle Distance Trail Championships. The trial and the Home Countries competition brought added excitement and made the RunThrough Lake District Trail Race one of the most competitive trail races held in the UK for some years!

Mountain Running camp inspires junior international hopefuls

On Saturday 28 March, 18 aspiring international mountain runners met in Otley, West Yorkshire for an informative and fun day learning all things mountain running. The camp is part of the mountain running talent pathway for juniors showing potential who wish to improve and are ready for international representation. Talks are delivered by experienced coaches, physiotherapists and sports scientists as well as inputs and insights from elite athletes.

A Super Sunday for our Masters athletes

England Athletics Masters had their own version of Super Sunday at the weekend, with the opportunity of an England vest up for grabs. Over 500 runners took to the roads of Wilmslow and Thorney and the trails at the Forest of Dean with the aim of gaining selection for the international representative races later in the year.

Team staff opportunities 2026

We have a small number of England team staff opportunities for 2026 - at the National School Games Finals and also some road and mountain running team roles. Effective team staff members are expected to demonstrate a wide range of other personal skills, qualities and experience which are specific to the role. This year we are focussing on team coach and team manager roles.

England Athletics inaugural trail team announced

The RunThrough Trails Lake District 53k will play host to the Home Countries International (HCI) for trail running on 11 April 2026. This marks a new representative opportunity for athletes to race at the HCI, which also forms the trial race for the Great Britain and Northern Ireland team at the European Off-Road Championships in Slovenia, June 2026.

Coming up in 2026 

We're looking forward to another exciting year in 2026! We'll have our top athletes competing for England at the Commonwealth Games. Leading up to that - come and watch the indoor champs action in Sheffield and other teams representing on the roads, mountains and cross country. We'll also be at the National Running Show and the Marathon Expo. Later this year we welcome the return of our Hall of Fame and Volunteer Awards.

Intense battles in Italian mountains for England

England Athletics were represented by 10 athletes at one of Italy’s most iconic international mountain relay events.  There were record entries in the northern Italy town of Morbegno for the 42nd running of the Vanoni Women’s Relay and the 68th edition of Trofeo Vanoni.
