There are some tremendous opportunities across the sport at the moment for athletes of all levels, as well as programmes for clubs, schools and volunteers to get involved in. Once again we update on our international teams, including the Nitro Athletics series. Congratulations to all the athletes representing their country at the moment but also a big thank you to everyone who had been involved in supporting them particularly in the many clubs they represent.

They say that all the best sports teams contain just the right blend of youth and experience, and that’s something that England have noted as they prepare for the inaugural Nitro Athletics series which starts this Saturday 4th February in Melbourne, Australia.

Outstanding performances from England team in Bratislava Outstanding performances from England team in Bratislava

An England Team competed in Slovakia on Sunday at the indoor Elan meeting in Bratislava which has become a regular fixture over the past few years. The team came away with eight wins and seven other podium positions.  There were many PBs, Season's Bests and outstanding performances from this mixed young experienced and inexperienced team.

England took a mix of experienced and up-and-coming athletes to Vienna at the weekend with 5 athletes making their England senior debut at this now regular international team opportunity. Some strong early season performances with a number of personal bests were highlights of the competition.

Athletes representing England made the trip to Elgoibar in Spain for the Annual Cross Internacional Juan Muguerza. This classy event attracted athletes from Kenya, Ethiopia, Bahrain, Eritrea, Chile, Rumania, Poland and of course Spain and England.

England Athletics registered athletes can now apply for a guaranteed entry into the 2017 Brighton Marathon with either a 'Club Runner entry' or 'Elite Club runner entry'. Club Runner entries are limited per club according to the number of first claim registered members, and are charged at £69.50, whereas athletes who have achieved certain performances can apply for a free entry.

The first set of figures from the new Active Lives Survey have now been announced by Sport England. The Active Lives Survey has been designed to help gather information to help various government agencies decide how to invest in organisations and projects.

Storm Plymouth runners claimed a sweep of personal bests as they started 2017. As many as 60 runners from the club took part in the Exeter First Chance 10k last weekend following the club’s recent involvement in the England Athletics Club Run programme.

Chris Jones and London Council member Jacob Hood headed to the Leyton-based club to meet volunteers and watch the action as over 100 runners from Eton Manor AC and Victoria Park Harriers and Tower Hamlets AC renewed the friendly local rivalry in the two clubs’ annual mob match.

The deadline for online entry for our U20 / U17 / U15 Age Group champs is 3rd February.  Online entry is still available for our U17 / U15 Age Group Combined Events championships which take place 11th-12th March - entry for this compeition closes on 24th February. 

In addition you can now buy your tickets online for the Age Group Championships.

We've already received a lot of useful feedback from coaches regarding  Athletics 365 and would like to hear from an even larger group of coaches.
