Storm Plymouth goes above and beyond in the local community to provide inclusive running, walking and social opportunities. Their inclusive ethos saw them recognised as Club of the Year at the recent South West Regional Volunteer Awards. We caught up with a few club members to find out what makes the club so special.

The London Volunteer Awards returned to the elegant Bridewell Hall in central London for their evening of recognising volunteers in the area. The evening was preceded by the London Region Clubs Forum - an afternoon of useful discussions, networking and sharing of best practice, hosted by the London Regional Council.

Sprints and sprint hurdles technical camps this winter

England Athletics has teamed up with the Bruce Longden Coaching Foundation to organise 13 sprint hurdles technical camps, 3 of which will also incorporate sprint-specific development training. These two hour camps are mainly targeted at U15 and U17 sprint hurdlers and will cover a variety of important hurdling aspects to help the athletes become faster and more effective hurdlers.

Overcoming adversity to thrive in athletics

For many young children, they can’t wait to step through the gates of their athletics club, meet their friends and get started. However, for Megan Andrews, it was more of a challenge. Megan recently won the Newcomer to Volunteering award at the Yorkshire and Humberside Regional Volunteer Awards, and her journey over the last couple of years has been astounding. We caught up with Megan and her mum at the awards ceremony, to learn more about her incredible journey.

Barry Parker: 1947-2025

We are sad to announce that athletics stalwart Barry Parker, died last week after a long illness. He was very supportive of England Athletics, including being an officiating tutor, a long-standing and very involved member of Regional Council including a stint as Chair for the East Midlands Region and on England Council with the officiating portfolio.
