England U20 successes at Race for Victory 5k in Cardiff

England Athletics sent an U20 development team of 4 men and 5 women to this event.  The race took place in the Cardiff suburb of Whitchurch in almost perfect conditions. In terms of U20 performance, the England team did very well with individual wins for Herbie Johnson and Katie Pye respectively and team wins for both the men and women.

Mountain running team announced for Trofeo Nasego in Italy

We are pleased to announce the England Athletics team selected to compete in a Six Nations competition against Italy, France, Scotland, Wales and Ireland within the Torfeo Nasego mountain running event in italy. The Nasego World Cup involves two races which makes for a tough weekend, the first race is uphill only over 4.2km and 1000m of ascent, then the following day it’s an up and down race over 21km and 1300+m of ascent. The team will compete in both events.

England Athletics is delighted to announce the team selected to compete at the European Under 20 Road Race at the Trofeo Opitergium on 1 May. The race will see the England teams competing against some of Europe's best Under 20 athletes in a team competition over 5k and 10k.

England Under 20 team announced for Cardiff 5k

England Athletics are pleased to announce the team for the Cardiff 5k which will take place on Sunday 4 May. Last year's high quality field saw six personal bests from the England team members so this is regarded as a great development opportunity. The year the event is also the Welsh 5k championships so there is sure to be the usual fantastic atmosphere plus many athletes striving for their best performances.

It is not a secret that genes run within a family, but for the Shaplands, so do England vests! Dad, John, and son, Keith, have risen through the masters running ranks to secure England vests over cross country and the roads, and have done it all alongside each other.

Team selected for Paris Para Grand Prix

The Paris Para Grand Prix is a pinnacle event on the World Para calendar and England Athletics is delighted to be sending a team for the second year running. The team features athletes with potential to represent Team England at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow next year as well as athletes who will be vying for selection to the World Para Athletics Championships in New Delhi later this year. Additionally, England Athletics are supporting para athletes coming through the Youth Talent Programme as part of this team as it provides a fantastic opportunity for learning as part of an international team.

Following the success of last year’s team trip to Nottwil, we are pleased to announce a strong team of England Talent Programme athletes selected to represent England at the 2025 World Para Athletics Grand Prix in Nottwil, Switzerland on 23-25 May.

As one of the most accessible sports in the world, running really is for everyone – something which Lyn Jenkins discovered later in life. Starting running in her 60s, Lyn has since caught the running bug and earned her first England masters vest in November last year. We caught up with Lyn to learn about how running has not only changed her life, but how she has found a supportive community who push and encourage her to try new things even into her 70s.
