Strong team selected for Snowdon International Mountain Race

Later this month sees the return of The Snowdon Mountain Race - one of the most popular races in the calendar (18 July). As well as being one of the toughest, it tests your speed, climbing and descending skills to the limit. This year it also incorporates the Senior Home International competition.

The team is a good mix of experience and athletes making their England debuts, once again there are very strong England teams who will be very competitive in what’s a very tough mountain race.

Meet the team

Men

  • Dan Haworth (Matlock AC): Dan is one of our most experienced mountain running athletes and was 4th at Snowdon in 2024, he’s also represented GB&NI at the World Mountain andTrail Running Championships (WMTRC) and at the European Off Road Running Championships (EORRC). Dan was 2nd at the selection race at Blencathra Fell Race
  • Edward Corden (Dark Peak Fell Runners): Ed was a very successful junior athlete and represented GB&NI at the WMTRC and EORRC in 2022. Ed was 3rd at the selection race and will be making his senior England debut.
  • Tom Simpson (Ambleside AC): Tom will also be making his England debut after finishing 6th in the selection race. Tom won Ennerdale Horseshoe Fell race in June, one of the Lakeland Classic races.
  • John Battrick (Keswick AC): John was 10th at Snowdon last year and is in great form to improve on that position. He’s run 48:48 for 10miles on the roads and has also run 29:47 for 10km.
  • Joe Daly (ShUOC): will also be making his England debut and was the leading u23 athlete at the selection race.
  • Charlie Almond (Ambleside AC): Charlie is another athlete that has come through the junior ranks, he represented GB&NI at the EORRC in 2022. Charlie will be making his senior debut for England.

Women

  • Hannah Russell (Helm Hill Runners): Hannah was the winner of Snowdon in 2022 and was 5th last year. Hannah won the selection race and recently represented GB&NI at the EORRC in Slovenia and was part of the gold medal winning team in the uphill only event.
  • Emily Cowper-Coles (Rotherham Harriers/Dark Peak Fell Runners): Emily is dropping down in distance having represented GB&NI recently at the EORRC at the 52km trail event. Emily ran for England last year at the Senior Home International, but will be making her debut at Snowdon.
  • Sara Willhoit (Mercia Fell Runners): Sara is our most experienced athlete on the team and last represented GB&NI at the WMTRC in Spain last September 2025. Sara was 2nd at Snowdon in 2022.
  • Caroline Lambert (Keswick AC): Caroline was 4th at Snowdon in 2024 and his currently leading the English Fell Running Championships this season.
