Vaxjo throws arena in Sweden

England return to Växjö International 2024

We are delighted to announce the athletes selected to represent the red rose at the Vaxjo International in Sweden next month. The team of fifteen young athletes will compete across shot put, discus and javelin at the unique indoor arena.

England team selection for London International Cross Country

Later this month, a team of 16 athletes will represent England at the inaugural London International Cross Country. Part of the UK Cross Challenge, within the Home Countries International, athletes will battle it out across the 10km course, split over five 2km laps. Dubbed the ‘Night of the 10,000m PBs for cross country’, it is set to be an exciting day of racing.

English athletes dominate at the Cross Italica in Seville

The English contingent travelled out to a sunny Spain last weekend to compete in the 41st edition of the Cross Italica in Seville. Now part of the World Athletics Cross County Gold Level series, this prestigious race moved to earlier in the calendar this year which proved advantageous for the English athletes who will be battling for GB spots at the upcoming Liverpool British Cross Challenge on the 25 November.

Calli Thackery – the road to Riga

With the World Road Running Championships in Riga fast approaching, we caught up with British hopeful Calli Thackery (club: Hallamshire Harriers), who has had a stellar season so far.  From multiple wins over 5k to a dominant performance in the Big Half, Calli has gone from strength to strength.  We caught up with Calli to learn more about where her running started, her build-up to the World Road Running Championships and the journey she has been on to become the athlete she is today.

England Masters’ Cross Country international opportunity

Next month sees the return of the cross country season and for the Masters athletes, there is an exciting opportunity to represent England internationally. The first port of call is the England Masters’ Cross Country team selection race in Markeaton Park, Derby on Saturday 14 October where athletes will earn the right to wear the red rose. Those who qualify and gain their spots will be selected to race at the British and Irish Masters’ Cross Country International held in Glasgow on Saturday 11 November.

Bronze for England team at European U20 road race

Strong running and good depth took England to the bronze medal at the Trofeo Opitergium for the combined team competition in a highly competitive event in Oderzo, Italy. Both races were run in sweltering 27 degree sunshine. The athletes demonstrated great professionalism to cope well with the temperature and maximised use of ice packs and shade to keep themselves cool prior to the start.

England retain overall Edinburgh Cup at mountain running championships

The Scottish Borders’  town of Peebles and the Cademuir Hill provided the wonderful backdrop to this year’s Junior Home International on 10 September, which also incorporated the British and Irish Mountain Running Championships.

England team strong at Antrim Coast Race weekend

England’s fab four of Kate Axford, Rebecca Johnson, Blake Moore, and Michael Wilson took to the streets on Friday to compete in the Classic Mile as part of the Antrim Coast Race weekend. In the Antrim Coast half marathon on Sunday, the men's and women's teams also ran strongly for England.
