Running together can save lives: Hayley's story

After suffering from bullying as a child, Hayley started running as a way to improve her physical and mental wellbeing. Running soon became an important part of Hayley’s life, and she went on to set up an inclusive social running group called Jolly Joggers. The group focuses on mental wellbeing, aiming to help people of all ages to move more for their mental health and to find connections with like-minded people.

Guide running is an enjoyable and rewarding activity which can support visually impaired people to be active, enjoy the outdoors and meet new people. Being a guide runner involves running alongside a blind or partially sighted person, often both holding on to a tether, to support them in navigating a safe and enjoyable running path.

Team Caterpillar: The journey from RunTogether group to affiliated club

Team Caterpillar is an inclusive running club catering to all abilities, based in the historic market town of Richmond, North Yorkshire. Since formally launching back in June 2019 as a RunTogether group, Team Caterpillar has grown substantially and now benefits from being an England Athletics affiliated club.

A proposed addition to this offering is a membership package designed for those who are not currently part of a running club.

Our purpose at England Athletics is to inspire more athletes and runners of all abilities and backgrounds to fulfil their potential and to have a lifelong love for the sport. We know that clubs face many financial barriers, so providing funding opportunities is an integral part of the support we offer to member clubs.
