Proposals for changes to the UKA Rules for Competition

Athletics has a set of Rules for Competition and a series of official notification periods for proposed changes to them. The invitation to make proposals for changes to the UKA rules for the UKA Rule Book for 2026/28 went out at the beginning of April 2025 and we remind you that the process is open until 25 June 2025. Guidance on the process and the form for submission of proposals are contained in the Rules of Competition page on the UKA website.

May has been a busy month for England teams as they have risen to the challenge of competition on the roads, in the mountains and kickstarted the outdoor track and field season. Fierce competition at Masters 5k International

Team England and Wales athletes were bathed in glorious Shrewsbury sunshine at last Saturday’s Shrewsbury Festival of Running.  The event hosted the first Masters International of the season with the Masters 5k. On a closed 5 lap circuit the event hosted 3 age group races and it was a magnificent site to see the waves of red and white vests charging down the course. This event was also the first time that both England and Wales had entered development teams, comprised of athletes who had not previously represented their country.

Masters team announced for Swansea

We are pleased to announce a comprehensive Masters team to compete in the England Masters vest at the half Marathon in Swansea on 8 June. All those in the team will have competed in one of the five qualification races, been in the top three (male and female in each age category) who registered their interest in being selected, and also have achieved the relevant time standard in the past three months.

Anglo-Celtic Plate 100k successes for England team

It was another hugely successful Anglo-Celtic Plate 100k race for the England Athletics team with team gold for the women and team silver for the men. Additionally Shaun Dixon secured silver in the British Championships, whilst Kelsey Price led home the women’s team with a British Championship win and a completely English podium 1,2,3 with teammates Belinda Houghton and Katy Young completing the British Champs top three.

England youth triumph at Trofeo Opitergium road race

A team of eight athletes and 2 team support staff travelled to the small city of Oderzo in northern Italy for the 7th Trofeo Opiterguim U20 European Road Race on Thursday 1 May. There was an individual bronze medal from Lucy Wilkinson with a new PB and the England women won the U20 silver team prize on cumulative times.

England U20 successes at Race for Victory 5k in Cardiff

England Athletics sent an U20 development team of 4 men and 5 women to this event.  The race took place in the Cardiff suburb of Whitchurch in almost perfect conditions. In terms of U20 performance, the England team did very well with individual wins for Herbie Johnson and Katie Pye respectively and team wins for both the men and women.

An electric atmosphere at the London Marathon Running Show

Last week the atmosphere at the London Marathon Running Show was electric, and the England Athletics team were right in the thick of it. It was a fantastic opportunity to be involved in the excitement and connect with a phenomenal community of runners. We loved having so many people visit our stand and had the opportunity to talk to some truly inspiring individuals, from seasoned marathon veterans to those about to take on their first 26.2 mile adventure. The passion for running was truly infectious!

Manchester marathon sees 2025 England champions crowned

The racing was as hot as the weather on Sunday as 36,000 people pounded the streets of Manchester for the 2025 Manchester Marathon.  This year the race had a new route, finishing on Oxford Road in front of the spectacular University of Manchester. Crowds lined the streets as the runners set off from Old Trafford under a cloudless blue sky.  The race was also the setting for the England Athletics Marathon Championships
