March wrapped up the 2026 indoor track and field action on both a domestic and world stage. With strong performances across the board this indoor season, we cannot wait for outdoors to begin! Catch up on our competition highlights from this month in our March performance round up.

England Masters ready to take on Wales and Northern Ireland

The Masters marathon has moved from its traditional Autumn slot to Spring. This year England Athletics is excited to announce that the representative race is being held as part of Manchester Marathon on 19 April. A sea of red, white, and green vests amongst 40,000 runners at the start of the race represent teams from England, Wales, and Northern Ireland who will battle it out over the 26 miles. We are pleased to announce the masters athletes who have qualified to compete and earn themselves an England Age Group Masters vest for this race.
England women team win Anglo-Celtic Plate 100k

Double win for England at the Anglo-Celtic Plate 100k

In sunny Limerick, Ireland, the annual Anglo-Celtic Plate 100k team competition saw England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland and Northern Ireland compete against each other in what was also the British 100k Championships. The weather was cold, but clear at the start on the gravel paths of Limerick University sports fields. The race started as any ultramarathon does, with a close pack in the men’s and women’s competition.

A Super Sunday for our Masters athletes

England Athletics Masters had their own version of Super Sunday at the weekend, with the opportunity of an England vest up for grabs. Over 500 runners took to the roads of Wilmslow and Thorney and the trails at the Forest of Dean with the aim of gaining selection for the international representative races later in the year.

We have a small number of England team staff opportunities for 2026 - at the National School Games Finals and also some road and mountain running team roles. Effective team staff members are expected to demonstrate a wide range of other personal skills, qualities and experience which are specific to the role. This year we are focussing on team coach and team manager roles.

Smiley Miley’s – how one mile is transforming mental health in Exmouth

In July 2022, passionate runner, qualified coach and Leader in Running Fitness, Kevin Palmer, founded Exmouth Running Club with a simple aim – to help people enjoy running while building meaningful connections. In 2024, Kevin introduced a new initiative that is already transforming the way people in the local community think about running and mental health. He called it Smiley Miley’s.
