Carol Wright is a technical official based in Cambridgeshire - she's qualified in track, field and photofinish but her real passion is as a Starter. She recently won the East Region Inspiring Official Volunteer Award and we caught up with her at the celebration evening.

The latest England Athletics Podcast features two winners of the Coach of the Year Award as part of our Regional Volunteer Awards 2025. Wenlock Olympians coach Camilla Stewart was victorious in the West Midlands, while Victor Oyesola of West Cheshire AC won in the North West region. In conversation with host Alex Seftel, the pair discuss their journeys in the sport so far and what motivates them.

Jaffa (Jogging and Fitness for All) running club has been going for over 40 years and is this year’s winner of Club of the Year in the East Region. There are groups where people of all abilities can run together and cover everything from 15-minute 5ks, marathons, ultramarathons and also couch to 5k courses for those just getting into running. The club brings people all over Ipswich and the surrounding areas together both on a Monday evening and at races and social runs, and virtually online too. The club has a real community ethos, putting on lots of big races and events in the area that attract people from hundreds of clubs all over Suffolk and East Anglia.

Shropshire Shufflers were named Club of the Year in the West Midlands at our recent Volunteer Awards. With over 600 members, the club are proud to be one of the largest running clubs in the country, but it’s their warm, supportive atmosphere that truly sets them apart. We spoke to members of the club to find out what makes their community so special.

Lincoln Wellington AC have been named Club of the Year for their incredible resilience and commitment to athlete development and community spirit. We heard from the club about their experiences and love for Lincoln Wellington AC.

At the recent North East Regional Volunteer Awards, East Durham Running Club were awarded Club of the Year. We recently visited the club's training session to meet their members and find out what makes the club and its community so special.

The final England Athletics Regional Awards celebration evening was for the East Region and was held at the The Ravenswood Hotel near Bury St Edmunds. 20 outstanding volunteers, clubs and projects were recognised and celebrated to an audience of over 90 people.

This weekend it was the turn of the East Midlands for the latest instalment of the Regional Volunteer Awards. It was a wonderful ceremony held at the Hilton Hotel in Nottingham, celebrating the outstanding contributions volunteers from across the region. A huge congratulations to all of the nominees and winners.
