Young talent shines at the British and Irish Mountain Running Championships

The small village of Y Fron in North Wales hosted the 29th edition of the British and Irish Junior Mountain Running Championships where 80 young athletes from the 5 home nations came together to showcase their talent.  The courses were fast: the U17s racing over 6.2km with 257m ascent and the U20s over 6.8km with 300m ascent, with the event delivering an unforgettable experience which pushed the athletes to their limits.

New funetics partnerships with Home Countries

England Athletics is proud to announce new partnerships with Scottish Athletics and Athletics Northern Ireland to expand the reach of its highly successful funetics programme. Scottish Athletics will deliver the programme through a dedicated network of funetics-trained club and community Activators. These Activators will work in key core cities, focusing on areas of greatest need. Their role will be to co-create community engagement initiatives based on the Run, Jump, Throw principles, aimed at children under 12.

In the latest England Athletics Podcast, heptathlete Jade O'Dowda and hammer thrower Jake Norris speak at the Manchester International, previewing the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo this month. Hannah Cockroft and Bebe Jackson also join to look forward to the World Para Athletics Championships, which are taking place in New Delhi from 27 September to 5 October. Finally, Rebecca Perry tells us about her bid to take on the heptathlon at next month's European Masters Athletics Championships in Madeira. Perry, who is also a lawyer and mother to twins, was originally known as a sprinter, before taking an extended break from the sport seven years ago.
