Age Group Consultation process

As part of a UK-wide consultation with the sport on the proposed introduction of new age groups from April 2024, we held a number of webinars. Following on from this we have created a survey to record the views of both individuals and Clubs / Member Organisations.

Club and Member Body Affiliation and Athlete Registration fees: effective from 1 April 2024

Following consultation with the Regional Councils through the England Council during the summer, the England Athletics Board have made a decision with respect to athlete registration and club / member body affiliation fees for the year 2024-2025 effective from 1 April 2024.

1500m legend Steve Cram opens new track facility in Scarborough

September saw the opening of the brand-new athletics facility in Scarborough. The residents of this Yorkshire coastal town were previously needing to travel over one hour to the closest tracks in Middlesbrough or York, making this development crucial to the local community. Supported by Scarborough College and Broadband Properties, the Bramcote Athletics Track was officially opened by none other than athletics legend, Steve Cram.

England Masters’ Cross Country international opportunity

Next month sees the return of the cross country season and for the Masters athletes, there is an exciting opportunity to represent England internationally. The first port of call is the England Masters’ Cross Country team selection race in Markeaton Park, Derby on Saturday 14 October where athletes will earn the right to wear the red rose. Those who qualify and gain their spots will be selected to race at the British and Irish Masters’ Cross Country International held in Glasgow on Saturday 11 November.

We asked the Clerk of the Course at the England Athletics Age Group Combined Events championship weekend to document their day! Who is the Clerk of the Course? Part of the Technical Team of officials at a competition, the Clerk of the Course helps to ensure that each event site is ready for the athletes and officials at the right time.

Bronze for England team at European U20 road race

Strong running and good depth took England to the bronze medal at the Trofeo Opitergium for the combined team competition in a highly competitive event in Oderzo, Italy. Both races were run in sweltering 27 degree sunshine. The athletes demonstrated great professionalism to cope well with the temperature and maximised use of ice packs and shade to keep themselves cool prior to the start.

Blackheath and Bromley Harriers AC impress in Italy

This weekend, a strong Blackheath and Bromley Harriers AC team headed to Italy to compete in the 2023 Dynamic New Athletics (DNA) U20 Clash of Clubs event.  Representing Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the team were hoping to put down a series of strong performances and enjoy this new and exciting competition format.  For those of you who might be new to Dynamic New Athletics, the event lasts 2.5 hours with mixed gender teams competing in a fast-paced sequence of events.  Every performance counts, with 12 points being awarded for first place down to two points for sixth.  The last event, a staggered relay called the Hunt, determines the winning team.
