Manchester marathon sees 2025 England champions crowned

The racing was as hot as the weather on Sunday as 36,000 people pounded the streets of Manchester for the 2025 Manchester Marathon.  This year the race had a new route, finishing on Oxford Road in front of the spectacular University of Manchester. Crowds lined the streets as the runners set off from Old Trafford under a cloudless blue sky.  The race was also the setting for the England Athletics Marathon Championships

England team selected for European Under 20 Trofeo Opitergium Road Race

England Athletics is delighted to announce the team selected to compete at the European Under 20 Road Race at the Trofeo Opitergium on 1 May. The race will see the England teams competing against some of Europe's best Under 20 athletes in a team competition over 5k and 10k.

England Under 20 team announced for Cardiff 5k

England Athletics are pleased to announce the team for the Cardiff 5k which will take place on Sunday 4 May. Last year's high quality field saw six personal bests from the England team members so this is regarded as a great development opportunity. The year the event is also the Welsh 5k championships so there is sure to be the usual fantastic atmosphere plus many athletes striving for their best performances.

England Athletics recently welcomed a number of new Regional Councillors to our Regional Council network, details of whom have been updated on our Regional Council web pages. The election process which culminated in the appointment of the new Councillors also saw a host of former Councillors come to the end of their terms in the role.

Javelin specification changes for this summer

On 1 April the new specification for the 700g javelin came into force under World Athletics Rules (TR38.10). However, there have been reports of worldwide shortages of the new specification implements. As a consequence, World Athletics have announced a seven month period of grace where competition providers may use implements of both the old and new specifications.
