Club Standards - policy into practice

The new affiliation year began on 1 April, and we would like to thank all clubs who have reaffiliated and met our seven Club Standards - all seven Club Standards are mandatory for clubs to affiliate with England Athletics this year, and 90% of clubs are currently achieving all seven. Since February, our Club Support team have delivered a Club Standards webinar series with the aim of supporting clubs to embed each of the Standards.

A win for England at inaugural Home Countries International trail race

Keswick was the perfect location for the inaugural Home Countries International trail race on 11 April, which was also incorporating the UKA European-Off Road Running Championships trail selection race, as well as being the British Middle Distance Trail Championships. The trial and the Home Countries competition brought added excitement and made the RunThrough Lake District Trail Race one of the most competitive trail races held in the UK for some years!

New Age Groups added to the PB Awards

England Athletics is pleased to announce that the new Age Groups have been added to the PB Awards tables. Rather than removing the previous Age Groups (U13, U15, U17), we have built on these, providing PB Awards tables for every year from U13 to U18 as well as U20 and seniors. We hope by expanding the opportunities to progress through the PB Awards we provide every athlete with greater motivation to develop in our sport.
John Askew at 2024 volunteer awards

John Askew: 1957-2026

England Athletics, Bexley AC and the international officiating community are saddened to hear of the passing of John Askew after a long and determined battle with illness. John was the recipient of the England Athletics Official of the Year in 2024, and was heavily involved as an officials' tutor, with his Club Bexley AC, and as a top level official at home and abroad, including being Clerk of the Course at the London Olympics and Paralympics and Assistant Technical Manager at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
