The club was formed in 1999 by parents who wanted to get their children involved with athletics. Amber Valley and Erewash AC grew to be a club with healthy numbers until - like for many clubs - COVID left its mark.

England Athletics 2026 indoor championship entry standards published

Year on year we are seeing popularity in the England Athletics grow, which is fantastic, but it has meant that in 2024 and 2025 the 8-hour competition day was exceeded. As part of the licensing stipulations track and field competitions must be carried out within an 8 hour day, and so to ensure all our Indoor Championships adhere to this we have had to amend our Entry Policy, implementing capped numbers for the Indoors. This was already in place for Combined Events Championships. This new policy  has been implemented to ensure the best possible competitive environment for athletes.
