Coaches play a vital role in athletics and running, especially within local athletics clubs. On a recent club engagement visit to Bristol & West AC we chatted to Esther, a young coach who was helping to coach a junior athletics session.

Overcoming adversity to thrive in athletics

For many young children, they can’t wait to step through the gates of their athletics club, meet their friends and get started. However, for Megan Andrews, it was more of a challenge. Megan recently won the Newcomer to Volunteering award at the Yorkshire and Humberside Regional Volunteer Awards, and her journey over the last couple of years has been astounding. We caught up with Megan and her mum at the awards ceremony, to learn more about her incredible journey.

Barry Parker: 1947-2025

We are sad to announce that athletics stalwart Barry Parker, died last week after a long illness. He was very supportive of England Athletics, including being an officiating tutor, a long-standing and very involved member of Regional Council including a stint as Chair for the East Midlands Region and on England Council with the officiating portfolio.
