Sneyd Striders - setting the pace for Club Standards

Sneyd Striders Running Club (SSRC) are an adult only road running club based in Walsall. England Athletics Club Support Manager Rich Ayling has worked closely with the club, both to complete their Club Standards and more recently, when they were forced to relocate premises. We spoke to the Club Committee about Club Standards, working with England Athletics, and giving back to their community.

Stephanie Brooks has competed for Yate and District AC as an athlete since 2011. In 2018, she began officiating for her first club - North Somerset AC - as they wanted more people to help at local and league events; she thought officiating would be a good way to help the club.

Christel Shaw is part of Brighton and Hove Athletics club where she is currently their officials' secretary. She has been involved in athletics for approximately 40 years, first as an athlete at age 11, then following her children’s  athletic journey which in turn led to being an official for the last 7 years. England team call up to Dubai for para athletes

The Dubai WPA (Para) Grand Prix - taking place from 10 to 13 February 2026 - is the first Grand Prix event on the World Para Athletics calendar, and a great opportunity for athletes to post season opening performances ahead of a busy year of championships.  This will be the first time England have sent a team to this Grand Prix, and for the selected athletes, this will be an opportunity to try and achieve qualification for next year's Commonwealth Games.

England Athletics were pleased to again sponsor the Muslim Sports Foundation’s Muslim Sports Awards, held on 5 December at Leeds United Football Club. The Muslim Sports Awards were established to recognise and celebrate the incredible talent, dedication, and impact of Muslims across the UK in sport. Representing us at the evening were Emma Davenport (Clubs and Development Director), Sarah Harrison (Welfare and Compliance Manager), and Head of Participation Programmes Tracey Francis, plus representatives from our RunTogether Groups.

Update on ESAA decision around Age Groups

England Athletics has received confirmation from the English Schools Athletics Association (ESAA) that, following a Special Council Meeting, it will adopt the new “even” age groups for its track and field competitions from 1 September 2026.

Electric atmosphere at England 10k champs

A crisp winter's day at the iconic Abbey Dash 10k played host to the England Senior 10k Championships for the first time under the stewardship of Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All. Despite the chilly conditions, the atmosphere was electric as over 10,000 runners took to the streets as they raced to Kirkstall Abbey and back. The event - renowned for its fast and flat course - attracted a stellar field of elite athletes and wheelchair racers alongside thousands of club runners, and charity fundraisers.
