We caught up with the winners of our Manchester Marathon 2024 competition to see how their training is going. Both Stephen and Eleanor have had a good start to training, despite the challenges of preparing for this event through the winter.

Pawlett shines at the World Athletics Indoor Tour in Tallinn 

A small team of three athletes travelled to Tallinn, Estonia to take part in the World Athletics Indoor Tour silver level meeting.   Sam Talbot (Sheffield and Dearne, John Lane), Abigail Pawlett (Trafford/Loughborough Students, Ashley Bryant) and Jordanna Morrish (Rafer Joseph, Basingstoke and Mid Hants) were flying the flag for England against some of Europe’s best up and coming combined-eventers.

Success for the English throwing squad at the Växjö indoor throws competition

England returned to the Indoor Throwing competition at Växjö, Sweden this year after a successful inaugural trip last year. A junior team of under-20 and under-18 shot, discus and javelin athletes – all of whom were keen to use the opportunity to prepare for the outdoor season – made the journey to Sweden. With over 100 athletes entered this year, it was a busy day of competition for our athletes.

This week is Children’s Mental Health Awareness week

This week (5-11 February), England Athletics will be marking the annual Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week, an awareness event designed to empower and give a voice to all children and young people in the UK. As an organisation, we are determined to ensure both that athletics and running is utilised to the greatest possible extent to improve the mental health of children and young people, and that those children and young people within our sport are given comprehensive, thorough and exceptional support in this area. All this week we will be sharing the different ways in which we are striving to make a difference.

UK Cross Challenge 2024

England team selected for the Lotto Cross Cup in Belgium

We are pleased to announce a strong team of 16 athletes for the Lotto Cross Cup in Diest, Belgium. Typically held in January or February, the Cross Cup competition was created as a men's only event in 1941 before introducing the women’s competition in 1977. Historically attracting top athletes from Europe and Africa, England have been representing at the Cup for the last two seasons. The teams have enjoyed a range of successes including victories across all age groups at the various Cross Cup venues.
