England team ready for Reykjavik

A small but strong team of our Talent Programme Athletes will make up an England indoor track and field team returning to Reykjavik on 27 January for the 2025 Reykjavik international Games. This event is renowned for excellent performances and is a great early indoor opportunity for athletes chasing indoor qualifying standards. The team will consist of athletes with varying degerees of experience; for some it is their first international opportunity.

The Street 2 Stadium programme is set to increase the number of para athletes accessing regular athletics training in England. We caught up with Lauren Butler, Para Athletics Talent Coordinator for the Birmingham region, to find out more about her role on the programme, what she loves about coaching and her experience at the recent GAPS camp in Mauritius.

Team announced for indoor throws in Sweden

After the successes of previous years England Athletics will be returning to Sweden for the Växjö Throws International 2025. A strong team of 15 throwers have been selected to represent their country against athletes from Sweden, Iceland and Norway. This team is made up of athletes aiming for a spot in the European Under 20 and Under 23 Championships this summer.

Mike Oakley: 1942-2024

Following a long and determined fight against cancer, top level Field Official, England Athletics tutor, mentor, outstanding club volunteer for Orwell Panthers, and dedicated committee member for Suffolk County Athletics, Mike Oakley passed away this week peacefully with his family present.
