Katarina Johnson-Thompson, two-time world and Commonwealth champion, is the ambassador for our funetics programme. Together, we are striving to inspire children and young people through the power of athletics. Best known for her world-class talent both on the track and in the field as a combined-eventer (pentathlon and heptathlon), Katarina is no stranger to success. Now aged 30, she’s just become the World Champion for heptathlon for the second time to add to her two Commonwealth Games titles! We pass on our huge congratulations to her!

Team announced for Welsh International

The U20 Welsh International is a great international fixture on the domestic competition calendar. This year, there will be an U18 team and U20 team to provide greater international opportunity for our athletes. It is good opportunity to see athletes who are currently on the YTP and JTP get the chance at a National level compeittion - which will aid to their future development in the sport. England Teams have historically been very successful at this event and we hope for the same again this year.

Middle distance magic and 400m medals for England on Day 2 of the Commonwealth Youth Games

Day 2 saw English interest in the 1500m finals, men's 400m Hurdles semis, both one lap flat finals and the men's long jump final. And Day 2's session of action resulted in a 1500m bronze for Lyla Belshaw.

Issy Boffey reflects on the 2017 Commonwealth Youth Games

Despite this being her first year as a senior athlete, Issy Boffey (Luke Gunn, Enfield & Haringey/Birmingham Uni) already has an impressive list of titles to her name.  Not only did she become British Champion over four laps of the indoor track earlier this year, Issy also has multiple European gold medals to her name from both the U20 and U23 Championships.  She was also part of the winning England Team at the 2017 Commonwealth Youth Games in the Bahamas.  Issy placed a fantastic 4th in the final of the 800m.

Day 1 of the highly anticipated athletics and para-athletics action at the Commonwealth Youth Games saw 13 of the 31 Team England athletes kick-start their campaigns and they did so in style. Team England secured a superb four medals, two gold and two silver.
