Great Britain and Northern Ireland Olympic team announcement
The stage is set, the team has been selected; it is nearly time for the Olympic Games! All eyes were on Manchester last weekend as athletes from across the country battled it out for all important qualification spots and tickets to the Olympics later this month.
We are excited to share that the Great Britain and Northern Ireland team will feature 53 English athletes from across 49 affiliated clubs. Of these athletes, we are proud to support nine athletes across our Talent Pathway from youngest team member Phoebe Gill on the Youth Talent Programme right through to athletes on the Senior Programme.
Speaking on the team selection England Athletics' Head of Talent, Sarah Benson, said:
"We are delighted for the 53 English athletes who have been selected to represent our country at the Olympic Games this summer. We would like to congratulate all of the coaches, clubs, and support systems who have helped the athletes throughout their journeys in the sport. We have been proud to support many of the athletes across our Talent Pathway and various programmes and wish them all the very best in the build-up over the next couple of weeks and in Paris."
