The coach of para-athlete Rosie Porter has spoken of her immense pride following her nomination for Team England at the 2023 Commonwealth Games in Trinidad and Tobago.

We are delighted to announce the 32 athletes who have been confirmed for selection to represent Team England at this summer’s Commonwealth Youth Games on the islands of Trinidad and Tobago from 4-11 August.

After consultation with the other Home Country Athletics Federations and UK Athletics, we have made the collective decision to postpone the 2023 Manchester International, which was scheduled to take place on 16 August.

As part of the England Athletics Talent programme, 17 athletes and three coaches attended a warm weather training camp in Vilamoura, Portugal. The camp consisted of track, road and trail sessions along with easy runs and strength and conditioning. The athletes and coaches joined the Loughborough University group, led by Kyle Bennett, that were out there at the same time. The athletes worked very well together and learnt off each other. This worked perfectly for the training groups and enabled great training sessions. The athletes also got to work with Ciaran Keen and Steve Smith who were out there as part of our medical management team and added a huge benefit to the athletes during the camp. 

The inaugural Loughborough Pathway International saw England’s 20-strong team of young throwers give an exciting glimpse of what is clearly going to be a bright future for the sport.
