The King's Birthday Honours celebrated the contributions of some of our sport's volunteers and administrators. We got in touch with Stuart Storey and Mandy Goth; two recipients who are involved in grassroots athletics in England - and who have made great strides in club and faciliy improvements.

Team announced for Mountain Running International Youth Cup

A strong team have been selected to represent England at the 17th Annual International Youth Cup; being held in Palencia Spain - with the anticipation of podium performances. The race is over 5km with 220m of climb and descent on good trail surface, so should suit the athletes selected.

"You’re never too old to challenge yourself" - Masters action at the European Off-Road Championships

The European Masters Off-Road Championships in Madeira in early May saw a small but successful British team pick up plenty of medals over three action-packed days. Athletes faced either an up and down 9km race, a vertical kilometre, or a tough 32km in the mountains the island is so well known for. Or all three for a hardy few!

Double win for England at Senior Home International mountain race

This year's Senior Home International mountain race was hosted by Scotland and was an uphill only race, held north of Perth at the Spittal of Glenshee. The international race was incorporated into the open race; 7km in distance with an ascent of 670m. The weather was warm and sunny with a slight breeze.

England Athletics are pleased to announce the mountain running team for the 13th Mountain Running Home International which will take place on 11 May in Scotland. This year's host event - the Glas Tulaichean Hill Race - is relatively short uphill-only race and will provide a fast but very tough challenge for all the athletes. As usual we are expecting some fantastic racing in both men’s and women’s events.

Athletes summit Skiddaw to claim England Championship success

The Senior England Mountain Running Championships took place on 19 April at the UK Up Hill Only Mountain Championship and trial for the European Off Road Running Championships. Many of the UK's best hill runners were joined by experienced road athletes to tackle the 6.4k route which climbed the 905m from Dodd Wood to the summit of one of the UK's most iconic mountains, Skiddaw.

Throughout April there was lots of talent on show from England athletes on the road and in the mountains. From team camaraderie at the ERRA Road Relay Championships to Olympic qualification at the London Marathon 2024 it has been a great month in athletics and running.
