English Race Walkers take on the World Athletics Race Walking Tour

A small team of four athletes travelled to La Coruna in Spain to compete at the World Athletics Race Walking Tour. It was all to play for as the senior athletes were chasing European and Olympic Qualification times, hoping to take advantage of the famously fast course in the north west of Spain. The weather was favourable, damp and cool, offering excellent racing conditions whilst the UK basked in the summer sunshine.

England marathon athletes among first selected for Paris 2024

We are delighted to announce the first athletes selected for the Paris 2024 athletics team are six English marathon runners. All six are set to compete at their first Olympic Games this summer. In the women’s race, two athletes will compete having qualified with the identical time of 2:22:17 - Charlotte Purdue and Calli Haugher-Thackery. The third female athlete selected is Rose Harvey. For the men, joining Phil Sesemann will be fellow Leeds teammate Emile Cairess and Mahamed Mahamed.

Ask any endurance fan about the Night of the 10,000m PBs and their eyes will light up with memories, excitement, or intrigue. We were lucky enough to attend the 2024 edition last weekend at the newly refurbished home of Highgate Harriers to watch as athletes not only fought for spots on Olympic, European and World Junior teams, but also to improve their own personal bests.

The European Masters Off-Road Championships in Madeira in early May saw a small but successful British team pick up plenty of medals over three action-packed days. Athletes faced either an up and down 9km race, a vertical kilometre, or a tough 32km in the mountains the island is so well known for. Or all three for a hardy few!
