Yeovil Olympiads AC have been on an incredible journey and at the heart of that journey has been the steps they have taken to be a well managed club by working through the England Athletics Club Standards. In January 2024 the club were rocked by the news that the Council planned to close the athletics track and other sporting facilities in the area. The club were in shock and uncertain about their future, but after consultation with their members and local stakeholders they developed a petition and lobbied against this decision.

As we prepare for the 2026 affiliation year from April, England Athletics are holding a Club Standards Webinar Series to help clubs understand and confidently embed the key elements of our Club Standards.

City of Portsmouth Athletic Club have recently updated their governance standards, and have now achieved all seven of our Club Standards.

Throughout July, England Athletics’ Club Support team has continued to provide a valuable and comprehensive service to our clubs: engaging in two-way conversation; acting upon club feedback; providing support and guidance; and ensuring that our affiliated clubs are well-placed to grow and thrive.
