YDL: an enthralling weekend of track and field

The Manchester Regional Arena was the backdrop for an enthralling weekend of track and field featuring some of the country’s younger club athletes. And it was Blackheath who retained their titles in both the upper and lower age-group competitions with a points score of 819 and 662, respectively.

English athletes dominate at The Big Half

English athletes dominated at The Big Half in London on Sunday with wins in both the men’s and women’s elite races and the men’s wheelchair. Calli Thackery, Jack Rowe, and David Weir emerged victorious whilst all six athletes in the men’s and women’s running races achieved the qualfication standard for the half-marathon at the World Road Running Championships in Latvia on 1 October.

As part of a UK-wide consultation with the sport on the proposed introduction of new age groups from April 2024., Welsh Athletics and England Athletics are hosting a series of webinars where we will share more detail of the research, rationale and options for implementation.

England’s fab four of Kate Axford, Rebecca Johnson, Blake Moore, and Michael Wilson took to the streets on Friday to compete in the Classic Mile as part of the Antrim Coast Race weekend. In the Antrim Coast half marathon on Sunday, the men's and women's teams also ran strongly for England.
