At our recent England Senior Championships, we were lucky enough to speak to 2x Olympian and British record holder Tom Bosworth as he reflected on his career and how he is seeking to inspire the next generation of race walkers in the UK.

Two action-packed weekends at the England Athletics Championships concluded a successful month of competition for English athletes. Future stars shone in Slovakia, Championship records were broken at the National Championships and the London Diamond League proved fruitful for British athletes.

Steve Taylor: taking a third Olympics in his stride

The Paris Olympics athletics programme kicks off with the men's and women's 20km Race Walks. And one of our own British officials will be volunteering there as an International Race Walking Judge on that first day. He's no stranger to Olympic officiating; this will be his third.

It’s been two years to the day since England hosted the Commonwealth Games at this venue and now judging by the weekend’s results, a new generation of world class athletes are benefitting from everything this huge arena has to offer.

Day two of these Championships picked up where the opening one had ended with a string of superb performances that confirm the future of athletics is in safe hands. A Championships Best Performance in the heats of the U15 Boys’ 100 – and a British record in the final – confirmed the next generation is progressing superbly.

Just as the Olympic Games opening ceremony got under way in Paris, so the first gun fired to get the field going in the opening track final at this Championships in Birmingham. And for everyone this weekend, the magnificent stadium that hosted the 2022 Commonwealth Games proved to be a fabulous venue for athletes beginning their journeys to Los Angeles in four years and beyond.

U15/U17 and Junior para champs, U20/Senior combined events champs: preview

World heptathlon champion Katarina Johnson-Thompson (Aston Moore; Liverpool Harriers) is set to feature among some of the country’s top combined-eventers, as well as some potential stars of the future. The three-day meeting includes the England, UK and BUCS championships for the Senior and under 20 combined-events, the England under 17 and under 15 championships and the England junior para championships.
