Volunteer Awards evening 2024: East

The East Region Volunteer Awards returned to the Atheneum in Bury St Edmunds and rounded off a series of recognising and rewarding volunteers up and down England. CEO Chris Jones and Club Support managers Kirsty Fardell and Richard Ayling attended on behalf of England Athletics with regional council chair Matthew Dalton along with members Phil Blundell, Elaine Forrest, Paul Pickard, Tim Cook, Rosslyn Hamlyn and Paul Brooks. They joined club volunteers, coaches, officials and other deserving members of the athletics community in the East of England to come together for an evening of celebration.

New Safeguarding Regulations

UK Athletics and the four Home Country Athletics Federations have a responsibility to safeguard, protect and promote the welfare of Children and Adults at Risk under their care. UK Athletics have formally confirmed a policy of Zero Tolerance towards safeguarding concerns. To ensure an appropriate response, UKA has produced these Safeguarding Regulations to consider and manage safeguarding concerns.
Running Buddies RunTogether group

Local running groups join forces to fundraise for charity. 

After a long-time member of the Running Buddies RunTogether group was diagnosed with breast cancer, the group joined forces with a local England Athletics affiliated running group - Team Balancise RC - to raise money for charity. The 28 Day Hill Rep Challenge has shown the strength of the running community, helping to raise an incredible total of over £6,000.Â
