Young official Freya Webb talks about her officiating journey

Freya Webb is a club athlete turned official, having qualified in a number of disciplines is now a Level 3 field judge. In February this year Freya officiated at the UKA National Indoor Championships in Birmingham for her first national selection event. As is common for a first appointment, Freya was an athlete steward.

This April 36,000 runners are expected to hit the streets of the north west to take on the sold-out Adidas Manchester Marathon. Making a difference in local communities: Club Improvement Fund re-opens

The Club Improvement Fund has reopened, welcoming applications from clubs across the country who have achieved their Club Standard 6 (safeguarding), and will have full Club Standards on receipt of the funding. There is a range of different ways that clubs can use the funding to improve their club, whether that be through facility needs, coaching courses or digital upgrades. We caught up with a couple of clubs to see what impact the Club Improvement Fund has made to them.

There are just 12 active athletics volunteers recorded on our membership database who are aged over 95. Ernie Cripps is one of them. Ernie doesn’t like a fuss, so England Athletics CEO Chris Jones, Chair of East Midlands Regional Council Jane Pidgeon, and Club Support Manager Heidi Bradley attended under the guise of an ordinary club engagement visit.
