The event was hosted by Regional Chair Stuart Paul, and Eangland Athletics CEO Chris Jones. This is one of the premier cross country events in Europe and has been predominantly a race held in January, where England teams have previously enjoyed success when held in January. This winter the move forward to November is advantageous for England as we look to get athletes an ideal race 2 weeks before the UK Cross Challenge and European Trial at Liverpool on 25 November.

Hannah Cockroft and Katarina Johnson-Thompson have followed in the footsteps of previous Sportswoman of the Year award winners such as Dame Kelly Holmes, Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill, Dame Denise Lewis, Eilish McColgan, Christine Ohuruogu MBE and Paula Radcliffe MBE.
