Age Group changes: regional open forums

As part of the Home Country Athletics Federations’ (HCAF) work to address the level of engagement and drop-off rates among young track and field athletes, England Athletics is pleased to confirm a series of forums at which members and the wider community will be invited to have their say, discuss how the age group changes will be implemented, and to consider the wider issue of retention of athletes in the sport.

2023 Consultation findings

England Athletics is today releasing the findings of its 2023 consultation, along with progress updates on a number of key areas for both concern and potential development, raised by stakeholders. The consultation was launched in April and was open to everyone, with the aim of canvassing opinions and allowing those within athletics to help to shape the future of the sport.

Skelmersdale Running Club formed in Spring 2023, starting out with one small group and one session per week. The number of people attending club nights increased at a much faster rate than the club anticipated.

Announcing our Athlete Panel

The Athlete Panel is an athlete representative panel which will provide feedback, advice and support England Athletics and the Board with key areas impacting domestic competition and participation in the sport. The Athlete Panel - currently 11 athletes - aims to represent ‘the voice’ of competitive athletes taking part in all disciplines and event groups at every level of competition. The panel members also work closely with the UKA Athletes’ Commission, who represent the voice of elite athletes competing at the highest level in sport.

This week is Children’s Mental Health Awareness week

This week (5-11 February), England Athletics will be marking the annual Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week, an awareness event designed to empower and give a voice to all children and young people in the UK. As an organisation, we are determined to ensure both that athletics and running is utilised to the greatest possible extent to improve the mental health of children and young people, and that those children and young people within our sport are given comprehensive, thorough and exceptional support in this area. All this week we will be sharing the different ways in which we are striving to make a difference.
