England Athletics is pleased to share our partner Kukri Sports’ new Youth Talent Programme Ambassadors for 2024. Each Ambassador has been carefully selected from the England Athletics Youth Talent Programme (YTP), which is the first step on the Talent Pathway designed to meet the needs of identified, English athletes/para-athletes between 16 and 18 years of age.

In May 2021, England Athletics launched a 12-year strategic plan following extensive consultation with multiple stakeholders from across the sport. Putting athletes and runners at the heart, the strategic plan focuses on creating opportunities, enhancing experiences and powering potential. The overarching purpose of the strategic plan is to inspire more athletes and runners of all abilities and backgrounds to fulfil their potential and to have a lifelong love for the sport, with a clear vision for athletics to become a more inclusive sport where everyone belongs and can flourish. Two and a half years on, we are pleased to present a snapshot of progress within our key focus areas.

On behalf of everyone at England Athletics, we wanted to thank you all for everything that you have committed to our great sport during 2023. We also wish you and your close ones a very happy holiday season, and hope you are able to recharge your batteries ahead of an action packed 2024 athletics and running season across England.

We are proud to announce and congratulate many of our highly skilled technical officials who have been selected for the 2024 World Indoor Athletics Championships being held at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow.

Batons were first used in athletics relays in 1893 but exchange zones, where athletes hand over the baton between legs, were not introduced until 1926.

As the weather starts to change and another year draws to a close, attention turns to the festive season.  Christmas is the perfect opportunity to look back on another year and reflect with those you hold most dear.  And that is exactly what we hope to do this Christmas with our England Athletics family.  See just a few of the highlights from across our sport in our CHRISTMAS acrostic.  Throughout the month of December, we will be releasing a series of written articles and videos.  Take a look at all that we have achieved as a sport over the past 12 months.

What better way to start the festive season than to look back on an event that brought nothing but cheer? The 2023 Commonwealth Youth Games which were held on the islands of Trinidad and Tobago, the first ever Games to be held in South America, certainly brought that festival feel. With an Opening Ceremony full of colour, energy and carnival vibes, the first night set the tone for a brilliant few days of competition.

Newquay and Par AC have been working with England Athletics towards achieving the club standards, so the club has good governance and duty of care. Building upon these standards, the club wanted to become a greater club by providing a vibrant environment of their athletes. The collaboration created a project plan to make this a reality.
