Priority London 2017 Ticketing for Athletics Family
People from across the grassroots of athletics in the UK have been given priority ticketing for the IPC and IAAF World Athletics Championships, which take place at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park next summer.
Registered club members, coaches, volunteers and supporters who are a part of the ‘athletics family’ have been invited to register for a priority purchase window to buy tickets for the biggest sporting event of 2017, as the capital looks to rekindle the memories of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Sally Bolton, Managing Director of London 2017 said: “There are thousands of people across the UK who make athletics strong on the ground. They are the local heroes who make our sport work within clubs, schools and communities. As the lifeblood of athletics we believe they should have the first opportunity to attend London 2017”.
Chris Jones, CEO of England Athletics said: “Clubs and volunteers lie at the very heart of our sport, Over recent years we have had feedback from clubs that one of the ways they would like to have their role in the sport recognised is through this type of priority ticketing opportunity when major events are held in this country. We are delighted that the organisers of London 2017 have worked with us, and the other home countries, to offer these opportunities for club athletes, coaches, officials and other volunteers to be a part of these championships.”
London 2017 is encouraging people identified within the ‘athletics family’ to check their emails for communications from their Home Country governing body or British Athletics and follow the instructions for registering. Communications will be ongoing for the next 2 months and those entitled have until Thursday 31 March 2016 to register for this priority purchase window.
The athletics family includes three groups of people:
1. Athletes holding up-to-date registrations with their Home Country governing body.
2. Key Club Contacts
3. ‘Star volunteers’ who are imperative to the running of athletics clubs.
In addition to the athletics family, wider groups will also be invited to register for the PPW including:
1. The Sport’s database of licensed coaches and officials
2. British Athletics Loyal Buyers who have attended multiple athletics events
3. British Athletics Supporters Club
