Perfecting movement - better than volume of movement
Does your club have leaders or coaches dedicated to improving their athlete’s performance, or looking for fresh ideas for their coaching sessions at your club?
England Athletics have a series of movement skills workshops this winter (November 2017 to March 2018) aimed at assisting athletics and running coaches / leaders.
These sessions are practical based and engaging for coaches. Attendees will be given knowledge and understanding of how to implement the workshop content into their club / group sessions. This includes exercises such as plyometrics (and other multi-jump drills and exercises), medicine ball conditioning (and use of other throws for this purpose), running drills and movement patterns. This will help your coaches advance your coaching environment and will improve your athlete’s conditioning and their performance.
Helen Letts from Sedgefield Harriers gave her views, “The workshops have given me more confidence and self-belief to enable me to deliver within our club, watch how athletes do activities, let them learn - don't jump in too quickly, let them work it out for themselves. It was a great day, the tutor was very engaging & gave lots of examples, challenged us to work out the answer - the day flew by!”
Judith Porter from Aycliffe Running Club explained her enjoyment of the workshop. “I have never been to a training session like this. I found it most interesting particularly with regard to the inter relationship between events of throwing, jumping and running and how the training can be relevant to them all. Also in the angles at which we should use our body”.
