Barry Willis OBE

Barry Willis OBE

The Amateur Athletics Association is sad to hear of the death of Barry Willis at the age of 94. Barry was Honorary Secretary of the AAA from 1965 to 1982 and in 1977 received the AAA’s Award of Honour.

A long-standing member of Blackheath & Bromley Harriers AC, he became Berkshire’s 440 yards and shot put champion. He helped form and lead one of the old specialist event clubs, the Discus Circle.

Barry was awarded the OBE for Services to Athletics and continued to serve the sport as Vice President of the British Athletics Supporters' Club.

England Athletics share the AAA’s sadness and would like to express our condolences with those affected.
