I have been involved in a variety of sports from a young age, however, since beginning secondary school at Southend High School for Girls, I was spotted for my potential in long distance running. Since the age of 11 I have competed in both cross-country and athletics at county, regional and national levels as well as being selected to compete in 1500m at the World Schools’ Championships in the Czech Republic.

As Sports Captain at my secondary school it was my responsibility to inspire and enthuse young people. I volunteered to coach a group of long distance runners prior to a national competition and I took an active role in officiating at athletics and cross-country meets as well as helping with administration.

Becoming a member of Benfleet Running Club has driven my desire to succeed as well as transfer my knowledge of the sport onto younger athletes. I have volunteered at my club’s local events such as the Benfleet 15 and Kirste 5.

I feel hugely privileged to be given the opportunity to be a full member of the Athletics Youth Advisory Group. I hope to help voice the opinions of future athletes to improve the world of athletics for them. Athletics has been a distinctive part of my life for as long as I can remember and I believe all young people should experience that despite their background or ability. I am looking forward to involving everyone of all ages in athletics whether it be competing, officiating, coaching or volunteering.
