I am a 2016 graduate from Northumbria University with a BSc degree in Applied Sport and Exercise Science. I have recently had interviews for PGCE courses in Primary Education and have received offers so all going to plan I should be starting this in September which will be very exciting!

I first became involved in athletics at the age of 7 when I attended Star:Track holiday camps. I really enjoyed these and so joined my local athletics club, North Shields Poly, and focused on sprints – 100m and 200m are my main events. I went to the English Schools' champs in 2011 but this ended in a long term injury for me.

While trying to get back into running this injury gave me the chance to stay involved in athletics in new ways and so I became Junior Team Manager. Through this I have built up the juniors from only having a handful of competing athletes in 2012 to having a team of 30 in 2015 resulting in us getting promoted to division 1! I was also invited to be a Northumberland Schools team manager from 2014 which has been a great opportunity.  I got involved in coaching through my Dad and I assist him with a younger speed group.

I applied to be in the Youth Advisory Group because athletics as a sport has really improved my confidence as I have always been quite a shy person. I want to give something back to the sport. I want to prove to young athletes that even if things aren’t going to plan that is no reason to drop-out of the sport as there are so many other roles to get involved with.
