England Athletics has linked up with Sportshall to offer members a free platform to create their own Virtual Multi-Event @home competition. Clubs can now use the Sportshall scoring system, and online OpenTrack virtual competitions platform, to create their own exciting ‘at home’ Track and Field challenges and competitions.
With athletics training and competition currently limited due to the coronavirus pandemic, Virtual Multi-Event @home provides a fantastic opportunity for athletes to compete against others from their own club or against other clubs, within their home or close-to-home environment and in line with government guidelines.
Virtual Multi-Event @home features 13 events, including 10 primary events and 3 secondary events, with organisers able to tailor their competition to include either a selection, or all, of the following: Standing Long Jump, Standing Vertical Jump, Standing Triple Jump, Balance Test, Speed Bounce, Target Throw, Overhead Heave, Hi-Step 4x8m, Chest Push, Shuttle Run 10m*10m, Indoor Javelin, 800m and Shot Put.
Organising a virtual competition
The competition organiser can sign-up/login to the OpenTrack platform and then email OpenTrack to access the Sportshall competition template. Click here to view an example of the template. Users only need to complete this process once and can then set-up their competition, or multiple competitions, using the template provided.
The organiser can select specific details for their competition, including its name, dates, entry criteria and events, before setting their OpenTrack competition page live. Once live, athletes can sign-up to enter the competition via OpenTrack and, once they have completed their events at home, they are then required to upload their results. The OpenTrack system calculates multi-event scores automatically and displays athlete results within a designated results table.
