UKA Member vacancy – Vice President  

An opportunity for a casual vacancy has arisen for UKA Members in the role of Vice President. 

Nominations are invited for Vice President from affiliated clubs, senior coaches and senior officials, with a closing date of 16 August 2024 at 5pm. A notice of the vacancy will also be sent via email to those eligible to nominate.

Nominating 

The process for filling this vacancy is as follows: 

  • Affiliated clubs, senior coaches and senior officials may nominate a person to be Vice President using the nomination form. Please note that coaches and officials may choose to nominate themselves. 
  • Where only one nomination is received, UKA Members will be advised of the outcome, 
  • Where more than one nomination is received, a selection process will be undertaken by the President and two other UKA members. A recommendation will then be made to the UKA members who will then co-opt the selected nominee. 

Please return the nomination form duly completed and signed, along with a personal resume of the nominee, to a maximum of 250 words, by email to elections@uka.org.uk. Please address any queries to companysecretary@uka.org.uk

Nomination Conditions 

All nominations must be in writing using the form above and received by the closing date to the email address stated. 

Conditions for affiliated clubs nominations are as follows: 

  • Each club is entitled to nominate or second one individual only. This individual does not need to a be a licensed person or club member. 
  • A nomination must be signed by the person nominated. 
  • A nomination must be signed by either the Chair or Secretary of the Affiliated Club making the nomination. 
  • The Affiliated Club making the nomination and those supporting it must together be entitled to cast at least 15 votes – see paragraph 2.1 of the UKA Election and Appointment Regulations (PDF 250kB) which sets out that each Affiliated Club has weighted voting rights depending on the number of registered athletes (as at 1 August 2023) in the membership of a Home Countries Athletics Federation (HCAF) as follows: 
    • 1-100 1 vote 
    • 101-200 2 votes 
    • 201-300 3 votes  
    • 301-400 4 votes 
    • over 400 5 votes 
  • Clubs wishing to check the number of votes they command should contact their relevant HCAF.

Conditions for coaches' nominations are as follows: 

  • Coaches nominating or supporting a nomination must be in possession of a full and valid licence, at Athletics Coach Level (former Level 2) with current DBS certificate. 
  • Each Coach is entitled to nominate or second one individual only. The individual nominated does not need to be a licenced person or club member. 
  • A Coach may nominate himself / herself. 
  • The nomination may be made by either the candidate and supported by four other Coaches or by another Coach and supported by at least three other Coaches.

Conditions for officials' nominations are as follows: 

  • Officials nominating or supporting a nomination must be in possession of a full and valid licence, in accordance with the licence terms and conditions, at Level 4 or 5 and hold a current DBS certificate. 
  • Each Senior Official is entitled to nominate or second one individual only. The individual nominated does not need to be a licenced person or club member. 
  • A Senior Official may nominate himself / herself. 
  • The nomination may be made by either the candidate and supported by four other Officials or by another Official and supported by at least three other Officials.
