2021/2022 cohort of Senior Talent Pathway athletes announced

We are pleased to announce the athletes and coaches who have been invited to be part of our Senior Talent Programme (STP) for the 2021/2022 season.

The STP builds on the Junior and Youth Talent Programmes which, together, form our Talent and Performance pathway for nurturing and developing English athletes and their coaches as they transition through the sport. The aims of the STP are to assist in the development of those senior England athletes and coaches invited onto the programme and help prepare them for international competition.

In addition, we will be supporting a number of STP athletes who we believe have medal potential at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games and/or represented Great Britain at the Olympic Games in 2021. This Commonwealth Games Medal Support Programme (CGP) for 2022, in collaboration with Sport England, is for those senior England athletes not currently on the British Athletics World Class Programme or other performance programme.

Kelly Sotherton, Team Leader for England’s athletes at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, said: “It is really important that we recognise the aspirations and potential of athletes and coaches that require the support coming into a home Commonwealth Games and alongside the current Senior Talent Programme this is a great opportunity to do this.”

Delivery of the CGP and STP will include athlete and coach training camps, webinars, masterclasses, mentoring, and other performance support services.

Our Talent and Performance Pathway supports the overall goal of the sport that Great Britain and Northern Ireland will have a representative in every discipline at all senior international events in 2032.
