England select Half Marathon team for the Granollers Half Marathon

We would like to congratulate those athletes who have been selected to represent England in Spain over 13.1M in February.

The following team has been selected:

• Doug Musson (Nottingham AC, Luke Gunn)
• Tom Evans (Lewes AC, Allison Benton)
• Calli Thackery (Hallamshire Harriers, Joe Franklin)
• Georgina Schwiening (Cambridge Runners)
• Team Leader: Joel Kidger (Brighton Phoenix)

England Half Marathon Champion Chris Rainsford makes his debut for England following a win at the Robin Hood Half Marathon back in September, which he followed up with a break through result at the recent Valencia Marathon earlier this month with a time of 2:21: 45.

Petros Surafel made podium bronze at the England 10 miles Championship at the Great South Run where he posted a quick time of 48:05 for the 10 miles distance and will step up in distance at Granollers. As does Doug Musson who also placed highly at the Great South Run.

For ultra-distance runner Tom Evans, Granollers will be more like a sprint as he comes down in distance after earning his place on the team following a strong result at the Great South Run back in October.

Calli Thackery was another England Championship medallist taking silver at the Great South Run to add to a strong debut run at the Manchester Half Marathon the week before and will be looking to build on her half marathon debut performance in Granollers.

Whilst Georgina Schwiening who was another athlete to make a break through at Valencia at the marathon running 2:37:46 will drop down to the half distance in making her England road running debut.
