Reaching more people in athletics and running through inclusive and accessible communications

The information you send on behalf of your club is a vital component of what it means to be involved in athletics and running and being part of your club.

It is important that every communication you send, whether it is a calendar of events, a poster or a newsletter, reaches the widest possible audience. The more people you can successfully communicate with the better.

However, there are a number of different factors that prevent some groups of people or individuals from receiving or understanding communications. The way in which disabled people access communications may be different to non-disabled people; and people with different impairments have different needs or experience different ‘barriers’ to accessing your information. There are approximately 11 million disabled people in the UK - so as a group, disabled people are a large part of your potential audience. Ensuring the information you share is inclusive will make it more accessible and easy for everyone to understand.
