Run 290! Challenge

Did you know it is 290 miles from the London 2012 Olympic Stadium to the Stade De France? To celebrate the Olympic and Paralympic Games, we thought it would be fun to create an interactive challenge for all England Athletics and RunTogether clubs and groups to get involved with! We are challenging you to complete 290 miles between 26 July 2024 and 4 October 2024.

We're encouraging everyone to get involved whether you run on road, fell, track, whether you walk, jog or push - the options are endless! If you have juniors at your club, why not challenge them to complete 2.9 miles?

  1. Individual run - complete 290 miles between 26 July 2024 and 4 October 2024
  2. Group run - target one of your weekly group runs to collectively complete 290 miles between 26 July 2024 and 4 October 2024.
  3. Relay run - a team of four running over however many weeks you decide to achieve the 290 miles - that is 72.5 miles each!

Since we launched our Run290! Challenge last month, we have secured a digital platform partner: Results Base. So if you haven’t signed up to the Run290! Challenge – then this is for you!

Results Base is an online registration and virtual timing platform that will host the Run290! Challenge. Participants can register as individuals, relays, or teams and log their mileage over a 10-week period to track their progress on a virtual map.

A comprehensive results leaderboard will be available to track individual standings, and we even provide an overview of the total mileage accumulated by all relays and teams. A downloadable bib is available for printing before starting the challenge, plus everyone who completes the challenge will receive a certificate and be entered into a free prize draw* for some amazing goodies.

Entry

Entries cost £2 and 100% of any profit made from Run 290! (minimum £1 from every entry) will be donated to the Personal Best Foundation, which aims to provide children and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and communities with the opportunity to improve their health and wellbeing through athletics and running.

Sign up to Run 290! on Results Base

(*Terms and conditions apply: T&Cs for entries before 26 July, T&Cs from 26 July).
