Team staff opportunities 2026
We have a small number of England team staff opportunities for 2026 - at the National School Games Finals and also some road and mountain running team roles.
England Athletics is committed to developing environments for athletes to perform at the highest level and to the best of their abilities. The role of a high performing team staff member is different to that of a successful coach or international athlete, and they can have a major impact on the collective and individual performance of the team.
So, effective team staff members are expected to demonstrate a wide range of other personal skills, qualities and experience which are specific to the role. This year we are focussing on team coach and team manager roles.
Please note, this year, opportunities for team staff roles are more limited. This is because many of our team staff roles are going to be fulfilled by our pool of prospective Commonwealth Games staff members - to ensure they are given opportunities to develop so that they can provide a high quality service in Glasgow. We also want them to get the chance to familiarise themselves with potentially selected athletes.
Opportunities
School Games National Finals
The School Games National Finals is a biennial multi-sport event for the UK's school-age athletes, organised by the Youth Sport Trust and funded by Sport England. It brings together top young athletes from across the country to compete in a variety of sports, promoting physical activity, teamwork, and personal development.
2026 will see a new format for the School Games – Dynamic New Athletics (DNA). There will likely be 10 regional teams competing with team staff assigned to each team. Competition takes place on 4 and 5 September at Loughborough. Team staff and athletes will be required to stay in Loughborough from the 3 to 5 September.
Off-track teams
There are several team staff opportunities for 2026 off-track teams, including road and mountain running teams. Team staff will be required to have the relevant experience of supporting athletes on these domains.
