September 2025: Performance round up

Following the busy summer of competition, September has been a quieter month with just two England teams competing. Although small in number, these teams have had big success competing against the other Home Nations.

Impressive performances from England Combined Eventers

A strong team of ten athletes headed to Belfast to compete against the other Home Nations across decathlon and heptathlon at the start of September. England athletes topped the podium in all the age groups with the U20 women’s heptathlon team taking all three top spots. The team spirit throughout the weekend was great to see.

Stephen Simmons (Tonbridge AC, David Hull) and Kieran Bouwmeester-Reid (St Mary's Richmond, Kim Weir / Tom Farres) excelled in their individual performances setting lots of new personal bests. Stephen also set a new stadium record at the Mary Peters Track in the senior men’s decathlon, whilst in the U20 men’s competition Kieran achieved a championship best performance.

The English athletes excelled as they took team silver in the U17 men’s and U20 women’s competitions and team gold in the U20 men’s and U17 women’s races. These performances matched the team from Scotland, so they shared the Edinburgh Trophy for overall best team.
