Jumps weekend workshop enables coaches to learn and share knowledge
England Athletics hosted a National coach and athlete jumps workshop last weekend covering long jump, triple jump, high jump and pole vault. The workshop format was based around theory and practical sessions and the aim was to get the jumps community together, coaches and athletes to share knowledge and coaches to network and work together in an an open and shared learning environment.
An impressive line up of top level coaches delivered presentations and sessions to 40 coaches and 19 athletes, with a good mix of senior and junior athletes working together.
One of the coaches who attended said, "It was a real pleasure and privilege to spend the weekend at the England Athletics jumps workshop, watching, learning from and talking with some of the best in the business."
Coaching philosophy and conditioning sessions were led by Frank Attoh, Erik Little and Maxine Robbins. One of the delegates commented afterwards, "I enjoyed yesterday very much, particularly listening to Erik Little; I appreciated both hearing Erik's philosophy to coaching and his practical but informed teaching style."
Technical sessions were run by Aston Moore – (long and triple jump), Carol Jackson (high jump), Scott Simpson (pole vault), and athlete Nathan Douglas talked about mental toughness and resilience.
