How running has helped people with mental health problems

We’re proud to be one of the organisations who signed up to the Mental Health Charter for Sport and Recreation, and we are committed to taking positive action around mental health.

As part of our #runandtalk programme we are establishing a network of volunteer Mental Health Champions and Ambassadors across affiliated clubs and RunTogether groups in England.  Welcome to the 23 new Club / RunTogether groups and their 52 appointed Mental Health Champions who joined the programme in August!

Coralie Frost is a Mental Health Ambassador with Serpentice RC and was recently featured in a BBC article "Depression, anxiety, OCD - running helped us beat them."

Coralie says she faced a choice between running, or being controlled by the eating disorder anorexia, for the rest of her life.

She chose to run.

In 2016, she started a blog about how running had helped her mental health. Through it she developed a new-found respect for her body. She believes that sport - combined with therapy - can play a key role in alleviating mental health problems.
