Elected Director Update

Following communication with the Board, Julian Starkey has stepped down in his roles as chair of both the England Council and South East Regional Council, as a regional councillor, and as a serving England Council representative director on the England Athletics Board, with immediate effect. The England Athletics Board formally accepted his resignation.

Janice Kaufman, chair of the North East Regional Council and England Council representative director on the England Athletics Board, will take up the role of interim England Council chair. England Athletics will work with England Council to identify an interim attendee at Board meetings until April when a replacement will be appointed following the conclusion of the 2023 Regional Council elections.

The England Athletics Board actively encourage nominations for the 2023 Regional Council elections, which start in January, from candidates representing a wide variety of backgrounds in recognition that it takes diversity of thought, culture, and perspective for athletics to become a more inclusive sport where everyone belongs and can flourish.
