Be ready for 2018 Virgin Money London Marathon Club & Championship entries
Clubs affiliated with England Athletics will be able to apply for club entries into the 2018 Virgin Money London Marathon. Club entries will open towards the end of October. The number of entries given to each club is based on how many first claim registered members over the age of 18 the club has. Please ensure your registrations are up to date to be ready to apply for you club places.

It is the club secretary’s responsibility to ensure runners are entered and registration is completed; failure to register will result in the runner not gaining an entry into the event.

Championship Entry
The 2018 race
Applications for a championship entry place in the 2018 Virgin Money London Marathon will open towards the end of November. It is possible to register your interest in a Championship entry now so you can be notified when entries open.

Do you qualify?
If you're a member of an athletics club affiliated with England Athletics (or one of the other home countries associations), are a registered athlete with that club and you achieve(d) a championship-qualifying performance for a marathon (or half marathon) in 2016 or 2017, you are able to apply for a championship entry place in the 2018 Virgin Money London Marathon.
You will need to have completed a marathon (or half marathon) in the same time, or faster than, the times listed below – these are the official championship qualifying performance times. Your qualifying time must be achieved after 1 January 2016:
Men
- Full marathon: Sub 2:45
- Half marathon: Sub 1:15
Women
- Full marathon: Sub 3:15
- Half marathon: Sub 1:30
You must be registered with your National Governing Body (i.e. England Athletics, Scotland Athletics, Welsh Athletics, Athletics Northern Ireland) otherwise your application will be rejected by the Virgin Money London Marathon. Please note: If you already have a Good for Age place in the 2018 Virgin Money London Marathon you did not need to apply again. Please email championshipentries@londonmarathonevents.co.uk from January for instructions on how to upgrade your entry.
Brighton Half Marathon results
Following the announcement that the course used for the Brighton half Marathon in 2016 was 146m short of the 13.1-mile distance, London Marathon Events Ltd has reviewed its Championship qualification process.
London Marathon Events Ltd will continue to accept times recorded in the Brighton Half Marathon in 2016 for Championship time qualification for the 2018 Virgin Money London Marathon, with the following conditions:
- For female runners, thirty-eight (38) seconds will be added to the official finish time
- For male runners, thirty-one (31) seconds will be added to the official finish time
